FAQs
What is Green Candy?
Green Candy is the financial assessment tool that aims to get you and other Gen Y-ers on the right financial track before the debt hits the fan. Green Candy uses up-to-the-minute technology and speaks your language. Because really, where else can you find financial advice pulled from hip-hop lyrics? It’s also the brainchild of Pete the Planner.
But who’s Pete the Planner?
Good question. He’s the super-savings alter ego of layman Peter Dunn. Pete the Planner is an expert who focuses on the financial struggles of Gen Y. His popular radio show, Skills Your Dad Never Taught You, is a hilarious hour full of useful financial nuggets.
Why do I need Green Candy?
Because you think borrowing money from your wealthy uncle is a viable five-year plan. Because you’re thinking about deferring your student loan. Because you’re pouring money into your savings while finance charges are building up on your credit card. Or maybe it’s because you’re desperately trying to get your hands on some of that government bailout package…
In other words, most people lose financial momentum (or never get it in the first place) when they focus on the wrong things in the short term. Green Candy will train you to focus your financial vision on your financial reality, and introduce you to techniques—some even counterintuitive—that will set you up for a successful and less stressful financial future.
What will Green Candy teach me?
Not only will you learn the “skills your dad never taught you” (sorry, shameless radio show plug),
you’ll also be able to assess your skills in the following areas using our Green Candy Pods:
- Debt
- Budgeting
- Investing
- Charity
- Risk management (insurance and emergencies)
- Major purchases (car and home)
- Gen-Y: Why You’re Special
Once you have assessed your competency, a series of worksheets, audio podcasts, tip sheets, and action plans will guide you to the financial promise land.
What can I expect from Green Candy?
An immediate impact on your financial life. Virtually anyone who uses it will figure out how to save at least $1000/year with Green Candy’s New Necessities Worksheet. Green Candy fights financial ignorance and puts the power back in your hands.
How is Green Candy different from other financial recovery plans?
- You can learn at your own pace. There are 35 sections on the website and you can progress through them in order, or jump around. It’s no different than life. Choose your own adventure.
- It’s presented in terms you can understand. Sticky financial situations are bad enough on their own—why add confusing financial jargon to the mix?
- It comes from Pete the Planner, not some schmuck in a suit. Not only is Pete the Gen Y president (based on age and “knowing things”), he’s also a member. He speaks from a place of “being there,” not looking down from a Baby Boomer pedestal.
What’s the risk?
You’ll no longer be able to bask in the bliss of financial ignorance. Sometimes the truth hurts.
How much is it?
Free…because Green Candy’s aim is to help a generation, not victimize it. Amortized (fancy financial word), the price is less than 0 cents a day. You can’t even flush a toilet for that money. The low price ensures that you get a high return on investment, and that’s good for everyone.
Is Pete the Planner available for media appearances? Absolutely. He does them all the time. If you want to liven up your show contact: Gretel Going | Channel V Media | 66 W. 39th Street| 3rd Floor East | New York, NY 10018 |o: 212.680.0179
